  • General
    • Where are the Sloepdelen docks situated?
      There are two Sloepdelen docks; the dock on the Nassaukade west of the city centre and the Borneosteiger east of the city centre.
    • How much does renting a boat with Sloepdelen cost?
      Non-members pay €50 per hour. Members enjoy our reduced rates. Sloepdelen makes a distinction between off-peak hours and peak hours. The off-peak hours are from Monday until Friday from 10am - 4pm with the exception of holidays. The peak hours are from Monday until Friday from 4pm – 10pm and during weekends and holidays. The hourly rate for off-peak hours is €25 and for peak hours it is €35. You’re also required to pay a €150 deposit.
    • During which months can I rent a boat with Sloepdelen?
      The boating season runs from the 1st of March until the 30th of November.
    • During what time can I rent a boat?
      You can rent a boat from 10am until 10pm.
    • Do I need a license to drive a Sloepdelen boat?
      No, you do not need a license. Everyone who is over 18 can drive a Sloepdelen boat. It is important, however, that you follow the rules which apply on the water.
    • What is the Sloepdelen cancellation policy?
      Sloepdelen members can change or cancel their booking free of charge at any time. Non-members can change their booking free of charge at any time, but cancelling will cost 15% of the rental price. This is also possible on the day of the reservation.
    • What is the minimum duration of a boat trip?
      2 hours.
    • Are there any additional service costs?
      No, you only have to pay the hourly rate and the deposit.
    • Can I extend my reservation during my boat trip?
      Yes, you can call to (0031) 020- 41 91 007 in order to extend your boat trip while you’re on the water. If the boat is not booked in after you it will be no problem to extend your reservation. In case the boat is reserved after you, we ask you to return the boat on the initially agreed time.
    • What happens if I return the boat too late?
      If you returning the boat too late interferes with another person’s reservation, you will have to pay a fine of €50 per hour. In addition to that you will have to pay for the extra time you had the boat for. This way Sloepdelen can compensate for the costs of the disadvantaged party.
    • Do you also rent boats for Queen’s Day and other events?
      Yes, we also rent boats for Queen’s Day and other events. It is only possible to rent a boat for the entire day and different rates apply. For events you can’t reserve a boat in the usual way, but only via e-mail or the special form for events on the website. If you would like more information please feel free to contact us.
    • Is it possible to leave from one dock and return the boat to the other dock?
      No, that’s not possible. You have to return the boat to the dock from which you departed.
    • I’m lost, what do I do now?
      If you can’t find your bearings with the help of the map and have lost your way, you can contact us by phone. The boats are equipped with GPS so we will be able to locate you and help you out.
    • Is Sloepdelen expensive?
      Sloepdelen uses luxurious boats which are powered by electric on-board motors. This means you only pay for the rental and not for fuel. If you compare this to owning your own boat, you will probably find Sloepdelen a good and economical alternative. The price of an average boat is €30.000. A boat owner who uses his or her boat frequently does so on average 10 times per year. The costs for maintaining a boat and keeping it in good condition plus insurance are at least €1.000 a year.
  • Membership
    • How much does a Sloepdelen membership cost?
      A Sloepdelen membership costs €25 per month or €200 per year. The boating season runs from the 1st of March until the 30th of November. This means you do not have to pay for the three months in the wintertime when it is not possible to drive a boat.
    • How old do I have to be to become a member of Sloepdelen?
      The minimum age to become a Sloepdelen member is 18 years old.
    • Can I become a member at any time?
      Yes, you can ‘become a member’ (rental/membership) at any time. If you become a member on or before the 15th of the month you have to pay membership for the entire month. If you become a member after the 15th you only have to pay for your membership from the next month onwards.
    • Can I share my membership with someone else?
      The membership is in one person’s name, who is responsible for any non-accidental damage. Aware of this responsibility, s/he can decide who gets to use the access code.
    • Can I cancel my membership at any time?
      Yes, you can. Please do take into account the two months notice period.
  • Boats
    • How many people fit into a Sloepdelen boat?
      Six people. The boats are very spacious and can fit six people comfortably.
    • How long does the battery of the boat last?
      A whole day.
    • How fast can the boats go?
      The boats can go up to 6 to 8 km/h.
    • Is it difficult to drive a Sloepdelen boat?
      No, it is very easy to drive a Sloepdelen boat. With the joystick you will be able to move the boat forward and put it in reverse. With the helm you can steer the boat to the right and left.
    • Am I allowed to moor in the city?
      The lines have been shortened so as to prevent them from getting into the propeller. This means it is not possible to moor everywhere. At some places near terraces it is not a problem. Still, it is important you never leave the boat out of your sight.
    • What can I do when the boat doesn’t seem to be able to pick up speed?
      When the boat doesn’t seem to be able to pick up speed it probably means there is something caught in the propeller. You can usually solve this problem by putting the boat in full power in reverse. If this doesn’t work, you can always contact us by calling (0031) 020- 41 91 007.
